Using chord inversions to make your music interesting

  • It’s a great video. The one thing that drives me crazy (because I just see the opportunity to consider it) are the first three notes of your melody.

  • You are most welcome and special thanks for sharing your insights! It is always nice to hear other options and experiences :)

  • Oh man I literally quit composing because I struggled so much with writing decent melodies so yeah this is a huge problem for people like me. I went back to playing jazz because improvising was the only way I could make myself come up with melodies without immediately deciding I hated them

  • Yeah I know what you mean. People can be their own biggest critic, which is good sometimes, but also can work against your creative output and appreciating your own work.

  • Nice job! I enjoyed your videos. Very nice presentation

  • A few months ago I posted asking for advice on how to recycle lyrics when I forgot the melody for them, and this is exactly what I needed! This is super helpful and a really cool process, thank you for sharing. (:

  • Very interesting (: I have never recycled lyrics before, but that is definitely something I am going to try. Could save a lot of time

  • I just always forget to record the melody and end up forgetting it, so I just have these lyrics and maybe a vague idea of the rhythm and nothing else lol. I’ve managed to rework a few pieces into songs again, but it always feels like the original I came up with would be better. I just need to record stuff in the moment lol.

  • Haha yeah I understand what you mean. I think that happens to everyone especially to me before going to sleep or leaving the studio. I always think to myself: I will still remember it later on...

  • Congrats! It is never too late to learn and never to late to enjoy guitar!
